- Lift the finished loaf out using the handles — no tongs, no burns.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the sling melt or discolor in a Dutch oven?
No. Food-grade silicone is stable up to 450°F. Some light discoloration can occur over time at high heat — this is cosmetic and does not affect performance or food safety.
Does the sling affect my crust?
The sling does not trap steam or interfere with crust formation. Steam is contained by the Dutch oven lid, not the sling. Your crust will be just as crackly and blistered as with parchment.
Can I use this for high-hydration doughs (80%+)?
Yes. The rigid handles and nonstick surface make it especially useful for wetter, more fragile doughs that tend to stick to or tear through parchment.
What size Dutch oven does this fit?
The 9-inch sling fits most 5–6 quart round Dutch ovens, which is the standard size for home sourdough baking. If your Dutch oven is significantly smaller, check its interior diameter before ordering.
Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes. Top-rack dishwasher safe, or hand wash with warm soapy water.
Do you also make one for oval/batard loaves?
Yes — our Silicone Bread Sling for Batards is designed specifically for oval loaves and is available separately.
